Southern export uptick unlocks production gains

A partial resumption in tanker traffic has enabled at least 250,000 bpd in increased oil output, but a full recovery still depends on wartime dynamics outside Iraq’s control.

BASRA - Iraq's southern exports have increased significantly in the past two weeks, enabling several fields to raise production levels — a tentative sign of recovery after wartime disruptions cut Iraqi output by over 3 million barrels per day (bpd).

Four tankers have loaded just under 8 million barrels from the Basra Gulf in the past two weeks, according to data obtained by Iraq Oil Report, raising southern export volumes to around 500,000 bpd over the first half of June. Some Iraqi oil officials have expressed confidence that this pace of loadings is likely to continue.
