Major turnout in contested Kurdish election

Despite glitches, election deemed a success with large voter turnout in what is a major stakes election for Iraq's Kurdistan Regional Government.

Jaza Ghareeb Ali stayed home Saturday. He’s been ill since head injuries during a 1982 imprisonment for opposing Saddam Hussein.

"I don’t have a good job because of my disease," said Ali, 49, of Suleimaniya, the sole breadwinner for a family of seven.
