Maliki launches coalition

Bid to stay in power includes Shahristani on stage, along with Abu Risha.

BAGHDAD - Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki officially unveiled his coalition aimed at defeating former partners in the coming January election.

At the Al Rasheed Hotel in Baghdad's Green Zone Thursday, 500 people were in attendance, including ambassador-level officials from the U.S., Australian, Japanese and European embassies.
