Iraq finalizes oil drilling joint venture with Mesopotamia Petroleum

A deal has been finalized creating a joint venture between the Iraq Drilling Co. and the British Mesopotamia Petroleum Co.

It’s the first such joint venture in post-Saddam Iraq, and will likely be a template for future projects to bring foreign oil companies into the world’s third largest oil reserves.

U.N. planning oil and federalism meeting in northern Iraq

Iraq Oil Report can confirm an upcoming meeting on federalism and oil and gas management in Iraq, organized by the European Union and United Nations. The date cannot be confirmed as yet. Although Voices of Iraq reports the conference will be held in April and focus on the oil law, sources told IOR the draft law will not be the main topic.
