BREAKING: Four Iraqi oil director generals retired

Iraq Oil Report has learned that at least four of Iraq's oil technocrat elite have been retired, though it appears to be based purely on age, not controversy as originally believed.

What began as a controversial flare up over the replacement of a popular official is looking more like a natural retirement process as three additional top spots in the Iraqi oil sector see turnover.

Two notables, however, are a change of leadership in the directorate that has been signing deals with foreign oil companies, and the return to power of an ex-director general of the South Oil Company who was removed last year after going public with complaints over those foreign oil contracts.
