BASRA - Iraq's central government said ExxonMobil will soon need to freeze or pull out of the contracts it signed with the semi-autonomous Kurdistan region or else lose both its venture in the super-giant West Qurna 1 and the rights to bid in an upcoming licensing round.

"ExxonMobil is quite aware of the position of the government of Iraq," Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Hussain al-Shahristani said in an interview with Iraq Oil Report. "They have been told they have to make a decision and inform us of the final decision."
