Kurdistan oil lawsuit moves forward

Iraq's Federal Supreme Court will finally hear a six-year-old case on the fundamental constitutional conflicts that underpin Baghdad-Erbil oil disputes.

Iraq's highest judicial authority will soon hear a long-delayed case that challenges the legality of the Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) independent operation of its oil sector.

If successful, the federal government's lawsuit would tilt the balance of political power further towards Baghdad and elevate the legal risks faced by both producers and buyers of KRG crude.
