ERBIL - The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is warning that federal Iraqi security forces are preparing to launch a new offensive, which could spark a battle for control of the Khurmala Dome of the Kirkuk oil field.

"We are alarmed by significant Iraqi military buildup in the vicinity of Makhmour... in preparation for an attack on nearby Peshmerga positions," the Kurdistan Region Security Council (KRSC) said in a statement Monday.
