Iraq budget moves toward passage
Despite some spending cuts, MPs across the political spectrum criticize the budget for its unrealistic expectations, but also expect it to pass.

Iraq’s Parliament looks set to pass its 2016 budget, cutting spending projections as it grapples with collapsing state revenue from oil, political power struggles in Baghdad, and the war against the Islamic State (IS) group.
Despite unresolved disputes over how to distribute limited resources to regional and provincial governments, many MPs predicted the budget - already approved by the Cabinet on Oct. 18 - will soon be approved by the Parliament.
